Competition invites photographers to capture beauty of equines
NEF26 cover image winners Robbie and Tilly by Ellie Taylor.

The winning image will feature on the cover of the National Equine Forum  Programme

Amateur equine photographers are being invited to submit their best work for the chance to feature on the cover of the 34th National Equine Forum 2026 programme.

This year’s annual photography competition is looking for shots that celebrate the character, presence and beauty of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. Submissions may be of the photographer’s own equines or those they have permission to photograph.

Photographers will also be given the opportunity to submit their photo for inclusion in the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) 2027 calendar.

NEF honorary publicity officer, Sarah Shephard, said: “Our cover image has become an important part of NEF. Each year we receive an extraordinary collection of images that reflect not only technical and artistic skills but also a genuine understanding of the horse. The competition is a wonderful reminder of the depth of talent within the equestrian community and choosing a single winner is never easy.”

The judges will crown one image ‘Best in Show’, with the successful entrant receiving a luxury hamper. For further details, full submission guidelines, and Terms and Conditions, visit beta-uk.org
