Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon — Blacon, Chester

Western Avenue Veterinary Centre is looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join its independent practice in Chester.

Located in the historic city of Chester, Western Avenue Veterinary Centre provides a friendly and inviting practice for clients in the region. With its state-of-the-art examination rooms and diagnostic equipment, its team is equipped with the tools to provide rapid, accurate diagnoses for a wide range of health conditions.

This first opinion role will predominantly involve consultations, with the opportunity for you to work and follow up your own cases. You will also take on routine surgical procedures, suitable for a recently graduated vet or a more experienced practitioner to work on at a more relaxed pace.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1-3 years’ experience in small animal practice and be registered with the RCVS. Any certifications in General Practice, General Surgery, or similar are desirable but not a requirement.

In return, the practice aims to support a healthy work-life balance by offering flexible working hours. It offers excellent pay and remuneration for the right candidate, as well as an extensive CPD package. If you wish to pursue a post graduate qualification, they will support you how we can.

If you wish to apply email a CV and cover letter to daniel.steerforth@dvsdiagnostics.com or call 01244 377076.

  • Defra shares new Sanitary and Phytosanitary guidance
Blog SpotDefra has published guidance for the vet sector ahead of a proposed UK-EU Sanitary and Phytosanitary agreement.

The agreement, which will change the movement and trade of animals and related products, could see reductions in checks, paperwork and certification. As well as describing regulatory developments, the advice highlights the importance of animal ID, registration and traceability in disease control and other compliance arrangements.

The guidance can be found here. More detail is expected as negotiations progress.
