Charity event at Hyde Park
Raising funds for London's homeless animals

The Mayhew Animal Home is to hold its Hyde Bark event in June, to raise funds and bring an array of pet-themed fun to London's most famous park.

The event will include a variety of stalls, a dog show and a sponsored walk. There will also be an agility arena, as well as a "Temptation Alley" to test the obedience of any dog.

Judging the dog show will be some of TV's most popular stars, including Jim Carter, Lesley Nicol and Peter Egan from Downton Abbey.

Other famous faces include Springwatch presenter Bill Oddie, Pet Rescue presenter Wendy Turner Webster, TV Vet Marc Abraham and actresses Helen George and Imelda Staunton.

Funds raised at the event will go towards caring for homeless animals at The Mayhew's rescue centre, based in London. Last year's Hyde Bark saw more than 400 people in attendance and raised nearly £20,000 for the charity.

"I've been an avid supporter of The Mayhew for many years now as I wholeheartedly believe it is essential for the charity to be able to continue its vital work in the heart of London, rescuing and rehoming animals in need," said actor Peter Egan.

"I am delighted to be able to judge at the Hyde Bark dog show and do my part to help raise awareness for The Mayhew and the dogs still awaiting new homes."

Hyde Bark will take place at London's Hyde Park from 10am to 5pm on Sunday, June 9. Registration for the dog show begins at 9am.

To register for the sponsored walk, call 020 8968 2445 or email The Mayhew.
