App to track lost pets
Pet tracker could prevent dog thefts

A new android and iPhone app which will allow owners to real-time track their pets has been announced.

On May 17, Take 2 Technology unveiled their MSP340 pet tracker device, which consists of a Pet Tracker Collar and smartphone app to enable owners keep track of their pets.

To link up to the collar, which is fitted with a pay as you go sim card, owners dial the GPS collar phone number from the app on their smartphone, and then hang up. An instant alert will then be sent back to the phone with the pet's location.

Users can also set up a geo fence, meaning that if their pet strays from a particular area, such as the garden, the owner will be immediately notified by SMS.

It is hoped that the device, which is now available to users, could help to prevent pet thefts.
