DNA testing scheme for schipperkes
Kennel Club approves test for MPS IIIB

Following requests from the schipperke breed club, a new DNA testing scheme has been approved by the Kennel Club.

The test, which is offered at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, will screen for Mucopolysaccharidosis type IIIB (MPS IIIB) in schipperkes.

Owners of schipperkes who have been tested will be required to submit a copy of the dog's result to the Kennel Club if they wish the DNA status to be recorded, as results cannot be sent directly by the laboratory.

Once results are received, they will be added to the dog's registration details, and published in the next Breed Records Supplement, as with all DNA testing schemes.

The result will also appear on any new registration certificates issued for the dog, and on the certificates of their future offspring, as well as the Health Test Results Finder and the Kennel Club website.
