Plumpton College courses arriving soon

Animal care and agricultural courses begin in May

Plumpton College are to run an extensive range of part-time courses in animal care and agriculture, beginning on May 16.

Care courses to be held cover small animals, equine, dog grooming and agility. These include Small Animal First Aid, Small Animal Behaviour, Exploring Common Equine Conditions.

A number of courses are also available for veterinary receptionists and veterinary nurses, such as Veterinary Receptionists CPD, Nurses Clinic for Dog Breeders and Veterinary Nurse Practical Exam Revision.

Other courses include:
* Healthy Mind, Healthy Body
* Can CPR Be Successful in Vet Practice
* Small Animal Behaviour
* Advanced Anaesthesia Monitoring
* Preventative Healthcare in Small Animals
* Raw Feeding Myths and Realities
* Advanced Imaging
* Critical Care
* Exploring Alternative Animal Therapies
* Veterinary Nurse Reception Training
* VN OSCE Tasks Practical Revision Course

Agricultural courses will also be run from May 29 to November 13, including sheep, calf and pig handling, shearing and keeping laying hens.

Birmingham Dogs Home makes urgent appeal
Birmingham Dogs Home has issued an urgent winter appeal as it faces more challenges over the Christmas period.

The rescue centre has seen a dramatic increase in dogs coming into its care, and is currently caring for over 200 dogs. With rising costs and dropping temperatures, the charity is calling for urgent support.

It costs the charity £6,000 per day to continue its work.

Fi Harrison, head of fundraising and communications, said: "It's heart-breaking for our team to see the conditions some dogs arrive in. We really are their last chance and hope of survival."
