RCVS and VN Council elections open
Vote now for veterinary council candidates

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Council and Veterinary Nurse (VN) Council elections for 2013 are now underway.

All vet surgeons and VNs eligible to vote have been sent ballot papers and details on each candidate, aiding them in making an informed decision over future representatives for their profession.

This year, there are 13 candidates running for six seats on the RCVS Council and four candidates running for two seats on the VN Council.

Jerry Davies, Chris Gray, Peter Jinman, Chris Tufnell and Bradley Viner are each running for a successive year on the RCVS Council, with Andrea Jeffrey hoping to secure her place as a long-standing member of the VN Council.

Votes for either council may be cast either online, by text message or by post, and must be received by 5pm on Friday, April 26. Further details on how to vote are available on the ballot papers or via the RCVS website.

The RCVS's registrar, Gordon Hockey, said: "At a time when the college is experiencing a period of significant change, it's more important that ever that the councils have the right personnel to help steer us along the path to becoming a first-rate regulator.

"The annual council elections represent a key opportunity for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to ensure this happens."
