Good samaritans save struggling deer
Deer rescued after being spotted 200 metres out to sea

When an Axis deer was spotted 200 metres off the Hawaiian coast, barely able to keep its head above water, workers at a tourist resort rushed to its aid.

The good samaritans from the Four Seasons Resort rushed into action when they saw the deer off Wailea Beach, on Maui Island, and worked together to get it safely back to shore.

Michael Boyer, a spokesman for the resort, said: "The deer came sprinting down he path leading to the ocean and actually ran directly into the ocean."

One of the beach lifeguards swam out to the deer and tried to put a rescue tube nearby.

Eventually, the lifeguard succeeded and the deer was then pulled to shore where it was put on the back of a beach buggy and driven to a nearby woods to be released back on solid ground.
