The Horse Trust is Charity of the Year
BVNA announce their charity of 2013

The Horse Trust has been announced charity of the year by the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA).

The charity, which is based in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, gives sanctuary to rescued horses, ponies and donkeys that have suffered neglect or cruelty, and provides a retreat for retired working horses throughout their final years.

Founded in 1886, The Horse Trust is the oldest horse charity in the world.

It offers training for professionals and owners in welfare and quality of life assessment and helps equids worldwide as one of the leading funders of non-invasive research into equine diseases.

BVNA President Louisa Baker said: "The Horse Trust works extremely hard to improve the quality of life of all horses, ponies and donkeys living in the UK and BVNA looks forward to working closely with them over the next twelve months, supporting them with fundraising and increasing awareness of this worthy charity."

The title was held last year by the Retired Greyhound Trust.
