Parrot learns animal impersonations
African grey is impressing crowds at a zoo

An African grey parrot has impressed crowds at a South Korean zoo with animal impersonations and other sound effects.

The ten-year-old parrot called Lala is able to make more than 50 sounds, which include cats, birds, a woman's scream and the sound of someone drinking a glass of water.

Visitors at Yongin Zoo are often taken aback by Lala's ability to mimic most of the noises he hears each day, such as computer beeps.

Lala's trainer, Nam Ji-hae, said she discovered the talent by accident about two years ago.

She said: "I used to play with Lala while whistling. One day, when I took him out of his cage to lay with him, he whistled. So I realised he has a great sense of sound."

Nam expects Lala to keep the crowds entertained for many years to come by learning many more sounds, as African grey parrots can live to around 40 years old.
