RSPCA rescue East Asian animals from barn Two Raccoon Dogs, native to East Asia and never before seen by the RSPCA, have been found hiding in a stable in Wales.
The barn owner, from Boughrood, near Brecon in Wales, described the animal to the RSCPA as having the face of a raccoon with long teeth and a short tail. Upon further inspection, the animal's partner was found in the same stable, following a local sighting of two earlier in the day.
RSPCA inspector, Danielle Baber, identified the animals as raccoon dogs, despite neither her, nor her colleagues, having ever seen such a creature before in the UK.
The Raccoon dogs, which are now in RSPCA care, are thought to belong to someone in the local area.
"An RSPCA officer's life is never dull, but occasionally we come across highly unusual creatures," said Ms Baber. "This handsome raccoon dog and his partner must have strayed from their owner in the Boughrood area and we'd like to hear from them immediately."
