Dog travels 110 miles in truck engine A dog was discovered in the engine compartment of a truck in California, USA, following a 110 mile journey.
The 25 pound (11.3kg) keeshond crossbreed was said to be unharmed despite his long, uncomfortable trip across the state on a hot autumn day.
The 52-year-old driver, Jamie Magaña, said he felt movement in his company truck when he had stopped the engine for lunch, and discovered fur protruding above one of the front tires when he investigated.
Magaña, who owns three dogs, opened the bonnet and said the animal was looking up at him as if to say "thank you very much!". He hesitantly removed the dog, in case it had any injuries, and gave it some water.
"Between the engine and the front there is a big gap and that is what saved him." said Magaña. "I don't know how it survived at this temperature with the engine running - it doesn't make any sense… This is amazing."
The dog, which has been nicknamed Chevy, was taken to a nearby animal shelter and has "perked right up", according to one of the officers there. Local authorities are currently trying to locate his owner.
