Luxury kennels for pampered pooches

D Pet Hotels in Chelsea, New York, is the one of the first luxury dog kennels to open its doors, providing pampered pooches with the very best accommodation available.

A basic suite at the hotel is 11 metres (36ft) square, and the most luxurious suite - the Uber Suite - is just short of 44 metres (144ft) square. Each room comes with a doggie bed and a flat-screen television, in order to create the elements of home.

The five-star hotel offers daycare, spas and a grooming service, as well as overnight boarding.

Prices start at $79 (£50) per night, and go all the way up to $200 (£125) per night for an Uber Suite.

Co-owner, Kerry Brown, said: "When a doggy is away from their parents, it can be a little nerve-wracking, and to be with a ton of dogs all day is pretty stressful sometimes.

"What we do is, they play all day and have fun and then they get their own suites at night just to relax and chill out. Our goal is to really create a home away from home for doggies."
