A snappy return
Croc escapes from his cage mid-flight

A crocodile managed to escape from his cage in an aeroplane cargo hold during a flight from Brisbane to Melbourne.

The loose croc was quickly returned to its container without causing any damage, aside from giving the baggage handlers a fright when they discovered the reptile. According to reports, the croc was not yet fully grown - at around 60cm in length.

A spokesperson for flight providers Qantas said that the reptile was quickly and safely secured when the aircraft arrived in Melbourne, following a two-hour flight.

The airline have released a statement saying the cargo company responsible is looking into how the crocodile managed to break free from its cage.

"The investigation is focusing on whether it had been loaded appropriately on delivery [to the cargo company]," said Qantas.

This incident happens within the same month that an Indian Air Force fighter jet reported a snake in the cockpit - though the non-venomous rat snake took a 12-hour investigation before it was found.
