RSPCA rewards animal welfare work
RSPCA recognises those working for animal welfare

Two members of the veterinary profession, Richard Ssuna and David Grant, have been recognised for their work in animal welfare.

Richard Ssuna, chief vet of Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA), was recognised for his efforts in helping the LSPCA to be at the forefront of animal welfare in Malawi. He received the William Wiberforce Award.

Receiving the Queen Victoria Gold Medal was David Grant, recently retired director of Harmsworth Animal Hospital for 25 years, in recognition of his long and valued service to the RSPCA. Dr Grant has recently spoken out on the issues of irresponsible dog breeding and has provided veterinary insight into the problem for the RSPCA.

The RSPCA presented the two awards during their Honours at the weekend alongside 14 more awards, all in recognition of those who have worked towards improving animal welfare.
