World's tallest dog
Zeus the Great Dane has the new record

The Guinness World Records have announced a Great Dane called Zeus as the new tallest living dog.

Three-year-old Zeus lives with his owner Denise Doorlag, in Michigan, USA.

The giant dog measures 3.6 feet (1.1 metres) from foot to shoulder, and stretches to 7.4 feet (2.2 metres) standing on his hind legs - towering above most humans.

He weighs 70.3 kilos; heavier than 11 stone. Denise says Zeus eats his way through a 14 kilo bag of dog food daily.

"The most common thing people ask is:'Is that a dog or a horse?'" she said. "We had to get a van to be able to transport him."

Zeus is just one inch taller than previous world record holder Giant George, another Great Dane, from Arizona, USA.
