Team GB create history at Paralympics
11 medals for equestrian team

Congratulations to Team GB, who have amassed an impressive haul of medals at the equestrian events at the Paralympics.

The team - comprising Lee Pearson, Sophie Wells, Deborah Criddle and Sophie Christiansen - has surpassed its performance at Beijing in 2008 and now totals a record 11 medals, following Sophie Christiansen claiming her third equestrian gold yesterday.

The first Briton to win three gold at the Paralympics, Sophie's victory in the freestyle dressage Grade 1a test made history for Team GB.

It means that Britain, the host nation of the Games, won a medal in every event of the equestrian competition as well as the team gold.

Sophie Wells, who won two silver medals and team gold, commented: "I think the standard of the sport is getting higher and higher, it's amazing."
