BVNA announces Special Recognition Award
New award added to ceremony

The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) have announced that a 'Special Recognition Award' will be added to this year's awards ceremony taking place at BVNA Congress in October.

It was considered by BVNA Council that, this year, the veterinary nursing team at Edinburgh's Telford College deserved recognition for their successful campaign to safeguard the veterinary nursing course in the face of closure due to financial cutbacks.

Over the last few years, veterinary nursing education has faced significant changes in the way that courses are delivered and students supported whilst on placement. Telford College's veterinary nursing team have continued to manage the changes to the course whilst raising awareness of the vital need for this provision in Scotland with everyone from MSPs to the management of the college.

As a result, the course has been retained and at least 24 full time and part-time veterinary nurse training positions for employed student veterinary nurses in practice across Scotland have been assured.

BVNA Congress will take place from the 5 - 7th October, at Telford International Centre in Shropshire.
