Canine toolkit expands reach through exclusive partnership
The Ageing Canine Toolkit was developed by the University of Liverpool to provide information about common health problems that affect ageing dogs.

BSAVA PetSavers has joined forces with Nationwide Laboratories.

A toolkit for providing the best care for senior and geriatric dogs is set to reach a wider audience, thanks to an exclusive partnership between BSAVA PetSavers and Nationwide Laboratories.

The Ageing Canine Toolkit (ACT) was developed by the University of Liverpool to provide information about common health problems that affect ageing dogs. It also includes a light colour-coded checklist which helps owners know when to seek advice from a veterinary practice and how to guide discussions during consultations.

Now, through an exclusive two-year partnership, Nationwide Laboratories will distribute the ACT across its portfolio of clients. Not only will this help raise awareness of the toolkit, but it will also ensure dog owners know how to spot the signs of disease, which could enable prompt treatment.

Alison Selby, fundraising manager for BSAVA PetSavers, said: “We are thrilled to be embarking on this partnership with NationWide Laboratories. By supporting the print and distribution costs of this invaluable resource, they will help us reach more pet owners across the UK. Working together in partnership, we hope to equip owners with the knowledge and confidence to support their dogs through the ageing process, ultimately improving their quality of life.”

Alina Zheleznyakova, head of marketing and communications at NationWide Laboratories continued: “As a diagnostic laboratory, we are keen to communicate to practices and pet owners via their vet about how to keep their animals happy and healthy for longer. We have an extensive portfolio of senior pet health check and geriatric screen profiles, specifically for elderly dogs, so we’re excited that the ACT can add to this and spread more awareness.”
