The new initiative replaces Veterinary Month of Movement.
Vetlife is encouraging the veterinary community to come together and get active to raise fundraise for the charity this October.
Launching it’s new Active October campaign, which is replacing Veterinary Month of Movement, the charity hopes that vital funds can be raised at a time when the cost of running its services is expected to exceed £1million for the first time.
Those wishing to take part can join in as either individuals or part of a team. Fundraisers are encouraged to set an activity goal and then create a fundraising page on JustGiving and tag Vetlife on social media to spread the word.
Activities can include walking, running, cycling, swimming, horse-riding or even kayaking or rock-climbing.
The money raised will help Vetlife to continue its work, including running the Vetlife Helpline which provides confidential emotional support to the veterinary community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The charity also offers health and financial support services.
Eve Ritchie, Vetlife communications officer, said: “The links between physical activity and mental health are well documented. Active October is the perfect opportunity to get your friends and colleagues together to boost your wellbeing and raise some much-needed funds for our charity.”
Would-be participants can find more information on the Vetlife website.
