Mental health and wellbeing event to support student vets and nurses
The 'VetKind' virtual event takes place on Saturday 20 November.
Webinar sessions will include setting boundaries, managing uncertainty and learning from the pandemic.

The Association of Veterinary Students (AVS) will be hosting a free one-day event in November to provide mental health and wellbeing support to student vets and nurses.

The event, titled ‘VetKind’, takes place virtually on Saturday 20 November and will be led by an expert panel of speakers, including Jenny Moffett, vet and managing director of SkillsTree, and Jenny Lynden, a trained psychologist.

Webinar sessions will include setting boundaries, managing uncertainty, learning from the pandemic and working with negativity bias. The event will also allow students to participate in interactive discussions and group tasks centred around wellbeing.

Izzie Arthur, senior vice president of the AVS, commented: “Our big aim for VetKind is to connect and support vet and vet nursing students across the country and share our values of warmth, compassion, and authentic conversation in a safe space.”

Other speakers on the day include Ru Clements, head of people and performance at VetLed, and Katie Ford, a vet and speaker on imposter syndrome.

The event will be supported by the RCVS Mind Matters Initiative, which aims to improve the mental health of everybody in the veterinary team.
