Familiar faces, new challenge
Maggie Shilcock
Vision Media is pleased to announce the appointment of Maggie Shilcock and David Watson to their editorial team

Maggie is a zoology graduate from Imperial College, London University, with a post-graduate degree in Information Science and a Certificate in Management Studies. She has worked in the management field of veterinary practice for the past 20 years, both as a practice manager and as a veterinary management and training consultant and course provider.

Maggie and David bring a wealth of experience to our expanding team
Maggie has contributed management articles to many of the major veterinary journals, and has spoken at UK and international veterinary management conferences and meetings. She has written three veterinary management books and is a contributing author to BSAVA manuals. She was president of the Veterinary Practice Management Association in 2003 and editor of its journal, Veterinary Management for Today, for seven years.

David Watson qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in 1972. He spent eight “James Herriot” years in practice in Suffolk, before beginning a career that spanned 22 years in the animal health industry and included time with Glaxo, SmithKline Beecham, the Mars Organisation as the “Pedigree and Whiskas Vet”, and the european division of Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

David Watson

David, who joins Vision Media formally in July, has always had an interest in publishing and communications. Between 1988 and 2003, he was editor of Veterinary Times and also launched VNTimes. He subsequently worked on Veterinary Review and the Veterinary Nursing Journal, as well as operating as communications officer for the Diocese of Truro.

Vision Media – publisher of MRCVSonline, VNonline, Veterinary Practice Today CPD Journal and PetFocus Magazine – couples digital and print media with online news and accessible CPD for veterinary professionals. This integrated approach has been developed to provide an even better service for veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and practice managers, especially through the articles in the recently launched journal,
Veterinary Practice Today.

Maggie and David bring a wealth of experience to our expanding editorial team, and complement the levels of expertise that we have employed in other areas of our business as we strive to provide an essential and quality service to the veterinary community.

Maggie can be contacted by emailing maggie.shilcock@visionline.co.uk and David by emailing david.watson@visionline.co.uk
