Veterinary nursing NI awards open

Acknowledge your nurses' dedication by nominating today!

The BVNA Northern Ireland Veterinary Nursing Awards are inviting nominations for the 2014 round.

The BVNA, in association with Hill's Pet Nutrition, are inviting the profession to help recognise a deserving individual by nominating him or her to receive an award, which will be given during the 2014 BVNA Northern Ireland Congress.

As well as nominating a veterinary nursing colleague from your practice, you can also encourage your clients to take part.

There are four nursing categories for the awards:
Veterinary Nurse of the Year
·         Student Veterinary Nurse of the Year
·         Animal Nursing Assistant of the Year
·         Charity Nurse of the Year

So if you are harbouring a nursing star in your practice, why not acknowledge their talents by nominating them for one of the above awards – and make their day!

A shortlist of nominees will be drawn up and the winner of each category will be announced during the gala banquet on May 23, 2014.

Birmingham Dogs Home makes urgent appeal
Birmingham Dogs Home has issued an urgent winter appeal as it faces more challenges over the Christmas period.

The rescue centre has seen a dramatic increase in dogs coming into its care, and is currently caring for over 200 dogs. With rising costs and dropping temperatures, the charity is calling for urgent support.

It costs the charity £6,000 per day to continue its work.

Fi Harrison, head of fundraising and communications, said: "It's heart-breaking for our team to see the conditions some dogs arrive in. We really are their last chance and hope of survival."
