Event in its 40th year reaches the end of a vibrant first day
After a bustling and inspirational day, the first day of the BVNA Congress 2013 is now drawing to a close.
The day has been packed full of exhibitions, lectures and workshops, with veterinary nurses from all over the country in attendance at the event.
Over 100 companies attended to exhibit their products and services, with many holding competitions throughout the day or giving away free samples of exciting new products.
The day started with a keynote speech, delivered by the RSPCA's chief veterinary officer (CVO), James Yeates, who discussed the important role of nurses within veterinary practice. Following this, BVNA president Louisa Baker presented awards to veterinary nurses for outstanding contributions to the profession.
A variety of informative lectures and workshops have been taking place throughout the day, covering a variety of key areas in veterinary practice from "Nursing the neurological patient" to "Social networking - a marketing tool".
As the bustle of the day starts to die down, it is clear that those who attended have all had an interesting and inspirational day at the International Centre.
The exhibitors, delegates and event coordinators are now winding down for happy hour in the exhibition hall, where champagne and a large birthday cake honour the BVNA's 40th annual congress.
The 40th BVNA Congress, taking place this year at the Telford International Centre, continues until Sunday, October 13.
