Celebrating 20 years of giving
New name for animal charities consortium

In celebration of the its 20th anniversary, Assisi Animal Charities Foundation has been renamed Together for Animals.

Formerly named after the patron saint of animals, Saint Francis of Assisi, the consortium of charities helps raise funds for World Horse Welfare, Blue Cross, Animal Health Trust, SPANA and the Mayhew Animal Home.

With more than 5,000 members, who all regularly donate through payroll giving, the consortium raises more than £250,000 a year via a flexible "give as you earn" scheme.

Following two decades of success, the new name is hoped to make the core objective more clear.

"Naturally, we started thinking about how the charity was formed, how it has grown and where we want it to be in another 20 years, so we asked our payroll givers what we could do to enable us to help even more animals," explained development manager Lucy Warnes.

"The feedback indicated that the name Assisi no longer resonated and didn't clearly communicate what we stand for."

Lucy added that the consortium offers an easy way to support, not one, but five great causes and all the money raised helps animals in need both in the UK and overseas.

"We think that the name Together for Animals really reflects that, and will hopefully enable us to continue to grow and help many more animals in the future."
