Charity celebrates pet recoveries
Bella Moss award aims to educate and support

An award will be given for the most successful pet recovery story, in honour of Bella Moss, the first recorded dog to die from the human strain of MRSA.

In collaboration with Wetnose Animal Aid, the Bella Moss Foundation - set up by Bella's owner Jill - will present the pet award as part of their mutual aim to educate and support owners and vets in the prevention and treatment of multi-resistant bacterial infections.

Entrants to the competition, which is now open, can send in their story with a photo of the pet. TV vet Zara Boland will then select the best story and the winner will receive a hamper from pet food company, Lily's Kitchen.

Jill Moss, president and founder of the Bella Moss Foundation, explains: "So many pets suffer unwanted infections and disease and they fight so bravely to survive. They can't talk so this award is to say to them we are listening…

"Together with Wetnose Animal Aid we are keen to educate and prevent animals suffering. Knowledge of all disease and illness is the key to pet carers saving the livers of their beloved companions."

Those wishing to enter can email 200 words on why their pet should win to Wetnose Animal Aid. The winner will be announced on the Bella Moss Foundation Facebook page on September 13.
