Are you an enthusiastic and motivated veterinary nurse with a passion for surgical nursing? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, high-quality referral centre? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Soft Tissue Department at Bridge Referrals.

As a Veterinary Nurse in our specialist Soft Tissue Surgery team, you’ll play an integral role in the care and recovery of a diverse range of complex surgical cases. This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your skills, work alongside a team of highly skilled professionals, and contribute to our continued success in providing exceptional patient care.

About the Role:

This full-time, discipline-specific Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) role focuses on Soft Tissue Surgery. You will be responsible for providing expert perioperative care, including preparation for surgery, anaesthesia support, post-operative monitoring, and patient recovery. With in-house anaesthesia support and development opportunities from a VTS (Veterinary Technician Specialist) in Anaesthesia & Analgesia, you’ll have the chance to expand your knowledge and expertise in this area.

In this role, you’ll be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where no two days are the same. You’ll assist in managing a variety of surgical cases, from routine procedures to more complex surgeries. As part of a collaborative team, which includes European veterinary Specialists and Advanced Practitioners, you will help ensure that each patient receives the highest standard of care throughout their surgical journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent perioperative nursing care for complex soft tissue surgical cases.
  • Assist in all aspects of surgery preparation and post-operative care.
  • Support anaesthesia under supervision, with opportunities for development in anaesthesia and analgesia.
  • Provide effective communication and support to pet owners, helping them understand their pets' conditions and treatments.
  • Work closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth patient care.
  • Participate in the rolling rota of 40 hours per week, including weekend and bank holiday shifts.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure high standards of hygiene and equipment sterilisation.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), with a passion for surgical nursing and an interest in referral care.
  • Ideally you will have previous referral nursing experience, but consideration would be given to experienced primary care nurses as in-house training can be offered.
  • You should be able to work well under pressure, demonstrate a high level of clinical skills, and work independently when required.
  • A team player who enjoys working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated to develop your skills further in a supportive and progressive environment.
  • Willing to work a rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays, to meet the needs of the practice.
