Referral Veterinary Nurse – Internal Medicine (full-time) – South Tyneside


A dynamic new independent veterinary referral hospital in the North East is looking for highly motivated, full-time registered veterinary nurse to join its growing internal medicine department.

As an internal medicine nurse, you'll work alongside internal medicine clinicians and the lead medicine nurse to manage patients requiring medical interventions for various conditions, from endocrinopathies to immune-mediated diseases and beyond.

Proficiency in anaesthesia is essential for supporting patients during procedures such as gastrointestinal endoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, fluoroscopy and diagnostic imaging (CT and ultrasound predominantly). You will also play a crucial role in assisting with diverse medical procedures involved in the work-ups of patients.

Referral experience is imperative, but the hospital offers comprehensive training and support throughout. You should commit to a rotating 40-hour week, including weekend and bank holiday shifts. Full training and support will be provided in unfamiliar areas.

Skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Proactive attitude and ability to work autonomously
  • Capacity to adapt, keenness for learning, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High motivation to deliver outstanding service and ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Competent IT skills

    Released by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the World Organisation for Animal Health, General Guidelines for Surveillance of Diseases, Pathogens and Toxic Agents in Free-ranging Wildlife is designed to help wildlife authorities and others working with wildlife carry out effective surveillance programmes.
