Graduate Veterinary Surgeon – Sandiway, Cheshire

Hollybank Veterinary Centre would like to welcome a new graduate veterinary surgeon to their growing team.

They are an RCVS-accredited small animal hospital, nurse training practice and gold cat friendly clinic, striving to provide the best standards of first opinion care. Facilities include two operating theatres, a dental suite with dental radiography, an in-house lab with IDEXX blood and urinalysis machines, and a range of other diagnostic equipment including an EPOC machine, ultrasound, DR X-rays, video endoscopy and laparoscopy.

A purpose-built branch practice in Winnington was opened three years ago, with the same high standards and overnight in-patient care handled at the hospital.

You will be joining a friendly team of eight veterinary surgeons, with advanced practitioners in anaesthesia, ECC and medicine, and a diplomat orthopaedic surgeon. There are also visiting specialists in soft tissue surgery, cardiology, and diagnostic imaging.

The team is supported by eight RVNs and four SVNs (led by a DipAVN), as well as a BVRA-accredited front-of-house team.

The ideal candidate will truly care for their patients, be a good team player, and be motivated to provide a high quality first opinion service to patients and clients. Hollybank will provide a varied caseload, consistent support, and the opportunity to improve and grow as a vet. Post-graduate qualifications are encouraged.

Veterinary surgeons enjoy a four-day week, and receive two days in lieu for working a weekend. We use a dedicated out of hours provider for on-call and our inpatients are cared for by our RVN team. The vets share responsibility for the inpatients (1:8 nights).

We value all our team and strive to provide both a good work life balance and real job satisfaction.

  • Competitive salary
  • 4 day week (2 days off in lieu for working weekends – Saturday and Sunday 8am-5pm)
  • 7 weeks' holiday
  • Generous CPD
  • Paid memberships
  • Staff pet discounts
