A vet nurse's diary: spending the day in dispensary
medicine

I came in early so I could get all the consulting rooms ready as I was spending the day in dispensary.

Today's order was relatively small so I had unpacked it and rotated the stock by 9am.

After I gave the visitor's room a spring clean I headed back into dispensary where I was greeted with lots of dispensing labels. There were lots of consultations that kept me busy dispensing drugs for most of the morning.

Lunchtime soon came around so I checked all of the consulting rooms, restocked consumables and changed the vets' names over to the afternoon consulting vets.

After lunch I cleaned dispensary, dusting all the shelves and date checking all the drugs. With helping in reception and answering the phone in between, it took up most of the day.

I spent the afternoon checking the consultation rooms again, cleaning and restocking ready for evening surgery.

Evening surgery was very busy so I stayed in dispensary with labels were coming through non stop. Once all the appointments had been completed, I gave all the consultation rooms a thorough clean and restocked ready for the next day.
